EXIF Remover

LIVE

Strip GPS, camera, and timestamp EXIF metadata fully in-browser. Map preview and ZIP download.

About this tool

EXIF Remover is a 100%-browser tool that parses, previews, and strips EXIF and GPS metadata from JPEG / HEIC / PNG / WebP images. Inspect the timestamp, camera, lens, aperture, shutter, and second-precision GPS coordinates, then download a stripped copy in one of three modes: strip-all / strip-GPS-only / keep-all (preview). Built on piexifjs + libheif WASM, it correctly handles iPhone HEIC files, and zero bytes are sent to a server β€” verifiable in the browser DevTools Network tab. Use it as a privacy step before posting to secondhand markets, blogs, or social media to keep home and workplace locations from leaking.

Use cases

Scenario 1

Hide location in resale-app photos

For a sofa photo on Karrot or Bunjang, strip only GPS to mask home location while keeping the timestamp for buyer confidence.

Scenario 2

Audit before posting to a blog

Before posting a restaurant photo to your blog, audit the EXIF first, then upload a fully stripped copy.

Scenario 3

iPhone HEIC β†’ JPEG with metadata strip

Convert iPhone HEIC to JPEG for PC/Mac compatibility while wiping metadata in the same pass.

Scenario 4

Original-quality attachments on DM

Original-quality attachments on X DM or Discord retain EXIF β€” strip GPS, time, and device tags before sending.

Scenario 5

Sharing internal photos externally

When sharing internal facility or document photos with an external partner, wipe camera serial, GPS, and timestamp in one click to prevent leakage.

Frequently asked

Q. What EXIF data leaks?
A. Date / time, camera, lens, aperture, shutter, ISO, plus GPS latitude / longitude / altitude at second precision β€” enough to pinpoint home or office.
Q. Can I keep the timestamp but drop GPS?
A. Yes. Strip-GPS-only removes GPSLatitude / Longitude / Altitude while keeping DateTimeOriginal and camera tags.
Q. Does the file get uploaded?
A. No. Parsing, stripping, and re-encoding all run in JavaScript/WASM in your browser β€” verify via the Network tab.
Q. Don’t Instagram / KakaoTalk strip EXIF on upload?
A. Instagram, KakaoTalk, and Facebook strip on upload, but X DM originals, Discord attachments, blogs, Google Drive, and Tistory keep the metadata β€” strip first to be safe.
Q. Can stripped metadata be recovered?
A. No. Keep a backup of the original if you may need it later.
