Korea EV Subsidy Guide 2026 — National + Regional Breakdown

Overview
Korea's EV subsidy system combines national (환경부) and local government (지자체) subsidies. The total amount depends on vehicle type, price, and the buyer's registered region of residence.
National Subsidy — Passenger EVs
- Under ₩55M: Full national subsidy (up to ₩5.5M)
- ₩55M–₩85M: 50% of national subsidy
- Over ₩85M: No national subsidy
National Subsidy — Freight EVs
- Small (≤1 ton): up to ₩14M | Large (>1 ton): up to ₩22M
- Under ₩50M: full amount; ₩50M–₩90M: 50%; over ₩90M: none
National Subsidy — Electric Motorcycles
- Fixed ₩1.5M for vehicles priced under ₩7.5M; none above
Regional Subsidies
Each of Korea's 17 provinces and metropolitan cities provides additional subsidies. Amounts range from ₩2M (Seoul) to ₩8M (Jeju) for passenger EVs. Regional budgets are limited — apply early.
How to Apply
- Confirm your vehicle model is registered on the EV subsidy eligible list at ev.or.kr.
- Contact your local government for subsidy availability and application form.
- Purchase through a registered dealer who handles the subsidy paperwork.
- Subsidy is deducted from invoice price at time of purchase.
Important Notes
- Regional budgets may be exhausted mid-year — check availability before ordering.
- EV must be registered in the buyer's home region for 2+ years.
- Additional tax incentives: acquisition tax reduction up to ₩1.4M.
