What exactly is a K-pop birthday cafe?

It is a fan-run event where supporters rent and decorate a cafe to celebrate their bias’s birthday, handing visitors small freebies such as photocards, cup holders and postcards. Events usually run for a few days around the birthday and are announced almost entirely through Instagram and X hashtags. Several cafes often run at once for one member.

Is the cafe data on this site live?

No. The cards shown by default are illustrative examples, not real venue listings. Real schedules come from events you add yourself, or from each card’s Instagram hashtag link. Birthday cafes frequently change dates or get cancelled, so always confirm the latest hashtag post before you travel to avoid a wasted trip.

How do I get the freebies (photocards, cup holders)?

Freebie rules are set by the organizer and listed in their Instagram post, for example a cup holder per drink or a photocard with a dessert set. Photocards for popular members often run out on a first-come basis, so arriving near opening time is safer. Use the freebie filter here to show only cafes that offer photocards.

Where are the events I add stored?

They are saved only in your browser’s local storage. Nothing is sent to a server or shared externally, so they will not appear on another device or in a private window. To send them to a friend, use the share button: your added events are packed into the URL and restored on the other person’s screen.

How does the share link work?

When you tap share, your added events are compressed into a ?s= token at the end of the URL, and that address is copied to your clipboard. Whoever opens the link sees a prompt to load those events into their own list. Because the data lives in the link itself, there is no server, signup or login involved.

Can I add a cafe to my calendar?

Yes. Each event has a calendar (.ics) button that downloads an all-day event with a reminder one day before. Most calendar apps, including Google Calendar and Apple Calendar, can open this file and add it as an event, so you get a notification and never miss your bias’s birthday D-day.

Is there basic etiquette for visiting?

Since most cafes are run by fans at their own expense, ordering at least a drink is polite. Do not take banners or standees — photograph them instead. During busy hours, finish your photos and free the seat for the next fan, and queue for photo zones. Being kind to staff and organizers matters too.
