Q1.Which holidays are eligible for substitute holidays?▾
Children's Day (both Saturday and Sunday), Independence Movement Day, Liberation Day, National Foundation Day, Hangul Day, Buddha's Birthday, and Christmas (when they fall on a Sunday), plus Seollal and Chuseok 3-day holidays (when any day overlaps with Sunday or another holiday). Memorial Day and New Year's Day are excluded.
Q2.Will this site reflect temporary holidays right after a government announcement?▾
Data is updated within 24 hours of the official gazette. If you see outdated information after a news report, please refresh or contact comsamo84@gmail.com.
Q3.Are the lunar-calendar holidays (Seollal, Chuseok) accurate?▾
Yes. Gregorian dates are precomputed from the Korea Astronomy & Space Science Institute data for 2024–2028.
Q4.How do I add the ICS file to Google Calendar?▾
Open Google Calendar → Settings → Import & export → Import, and upload the downloaded korean-holidays-YYYY.ics file. For Apple Calendar, double-clicking the file adds it automatically.
Q5.How is "Golden Week" calculated?▾
We compute every combination of up to 3 annual-leave days, then rank by efficiency (consecutive days off minus leave used). Only streaks that include an actual public holiday are shown.
Q6.Is this site free?▾
Yes, fully free with no sign-up. Hosting is supported by minimal display ads.
